What is Yoga?

Yoga originated in India many thousands of years ago. It is different to other forms of exercise in that it brings together body, mind and spirit.  Yoga postures are called "Asanas". They work on every part of the body to stretch and tone muscles, joints, the spine and the entire body.  They also work on the internal organs, glands and nerves.  Due to the release of physical and mental tension they allow us to build energy and relax more readily, potentially relieving medical problems (e.g. blood pressure) and stress.

"Pranayama" or breathing exercises revitalise the body and help control the mind which in turn can make you feel calm and refreshed. The practice of positive thinking increases mental clarity, strength and concentration.

With regular practice of Yoga you will become aware of a subtle change in your approach to life and begin to glimpse a state  of inner peace.
